David can help you with:

  • Life changes
  • Overwhelming uncertainty
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Serious illness diagnosis
  • Facing end of life
  • Bereavement
  • Trauma
  • Loss

Art making can be helpful for clients who find it hard to articulate how they feel in words. It can also be beneficial for people who are good talkers but tend to avoid the emotions connected with their difficulties. If you’re anxious about making art, the therapy can help you understand the anxiety you may feel in other situations. If you’re self-critical and often find yourself judging your ability, the art making can help explore these feelings, and help you find acceptance and resolution.

Whatever your situation or background, David’s attitude to all clients is an unconditional positive regard. The first step in therapy is to establish a supportive, encouraging therapeutic relationship that allows you to feel safe and bring unconscious processes into awareness. Knowing ourselves better helps us to step aside from the thinking and habits that cause harm, and access the inner resources that enable us to cope and thrive.

Getting started

The first step is to arrange an initial consultation, to see if art therapy’s right for you. This is normally followed by a block of four to six weekly 50-minute sessions before considering longer-term therapy.
